High political activity in Southall

Wed 18 Jul 2007
Within the last week or so, the voters of Southall have been bombarded with political junk mail. This is further worsened by leaflets detailing the impact of local councillors defecting to other parties.

The activities include:

  • Each political party, with lots of activists, carrying placards around Southall Broadway
  • Each political party bombarding the households with literature daily, even twice daily from the same party
  • Knocking on doors to ask for the voters views
  • Phoning the voters to ask for their views
  • Sending junk emails to voter, asking for their views
  • Broadcasting their message daily from their cars

It is amazing, how interested the political parties have been in the views of the voters, just in the last fortnight, that they are all claiming/pretending to be on the same wavelength as the voters.

Once the election is over, these political activists will go back to sleep and ignore the voters, just like before.

If any of these major political parties had spent half the money, resources and effort they put into their political campaigning, into doing something for Southall, they could easily have given Southall a major face lift.

They should have been given brooms to clean up the area.
