Local business man murdered near Southall Broadway

Fri 08 Jun 2007
Local businessman, Mr Ahmed Shah of West End Road, Southall was stabbed to death near his home shortly after 1 pm on Tuesday 5th June.

Police were called at approximately 1.15 pm and Mr Shah was rushed to Ealing hospital, but died shortly after arrival. The Police believe that Mr Shah was the target of a deliberate sustained attack, which was probably initiated by throwing a chilli powder-type substance in the face followed by multiple stabs from a very large knife.

The attacker, described as 5ft 8in - 5ft 10in, of athletic/slim build, wearing a dark camouflage pattern balaclava and a blue boiler suit, left West End Road via an alley onto Townsend Road. The suspect may have been injured in the attack.

Mr Shah, who is believed to be separated from his wife, leaves 2 boys aged 9 and 6, and a daughter aged early 20's.

The Police have been making further appeals for witnesses and information through the local community. At the weekly Friday prayers, the chairman of the nearby Jamia Masjid Islamic Centre on Townsend Road, appealed on behalf of the police, for anyone who knew of Mr Shah's "lifestyle, background, domestic life and business interests" to come forward in order to establish a possible motive for the murder.
