Bus driver stabbed in Southall leaves Transport Workers alarmed
Wed 03 Jun 2026
The driver was reportedly waiting at a bus stop for a shift changeover when the incident occurred. Emergency services attended the scene and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment. His condition was later reported as stable and not life-threatening.
The attack has sparked renewed concerns about the safety of transport workers, with the union Unite calling for urgent improvements to driver protection measures. It has also prompted criticism of current safety guidance for bus drivers, which unions say needs to be reviewed.
Police officers responded quickly and secured the area while carrying out CCTV checks and witness enquiries. No arrests had been confirmed at the time of reporting, and investigations are ongoing.
The incident follows another fatal assault on a London bus driver earlier this month, adding to growing pressure on Transport for London and bus operators to strengthen safety procedures for frontline staff.
