Couple found dead in Southall named following suspected drug incident

Thu 05 Jun 2025
A man and woman who were found dead at a home in Southall on Bank Holiday Monday have been named as Gagan Brar, 28, and Kamaldeep Kaur, 20.

The couple were discovered unresponsive at a residential property on Havelock Road, Southall, on Monday, 26 May 2025. Emergency services were called to the scene but were unable to revive them. Both were pronounced dead shortly after.

It is believed the pair may have taken illicit pills prior to their deaths, possibly obtained while they were out clubbing in south London on Saturday, 24 May, and consumed before Bank Holiday Monday.

According to early reports, the substances involved may have included counterfeit tablets marked “80”, suspected to contain highly potent synthetic opioids. However, post-mortem examinations and toxicology results are still pending to confirm the exact cause of death.

The Metropolitan Police are investigating the circumstances and have not confirmed whether the deaths are being treated as accidental overdoses or if other factors may be involved. The case is not believed to be linked to any other incidents in the area at this time.

A police spokesperson said:
"We are continuing to examine the circumstances around the tragic deaths of two young adults in Southall. Our thoughts are with their families during this difficult time. Anyone with information is urged to come forward."

The deaths have sparked concern among local residents and community leaders, who are urging the public to avoid taking any unknown or unregulated pills due to the risk of contamination with lethal substances

Ealing Council response after the deaths

After the Bank Holiday deaths, Ealing Council issued a warning to residents about potentially harmful green pills (originally thought to be blue) believed to be circulating in the Southall area.

Ealing Council issued the following statement: "Over the Bank Holiday weekend, two people were found dead in Southall, following attendance at a nightclub in South London on Saturday 24 May. They are thought to have consumed green pills with an ’80’ on one face and possibly an ‘OP’ on the other."

Authorities stressed that there is no safe way to know what substances are in illegally obtained pills or how individuals may react to them. Taking unknown drugs carries serious health risks, including death.

Authorities suspect they consumed green tablets marked with an ‘80’ on one side and possibly ‘OP’ on the other. This is a picture of the remaining pills which were seized by police:
