Southall Community Alliance, in collaboration with its partners, is hosting a Community Action Day at the Western Road Urban Garden to inspire local residents to engage in planting, growing, and caring for green spaces.

Over the past four years, the Western Road Urban Garden has evolved into a vibrant community space, inviting people to actively participate in enhancing and maintaining green areas.

We warmly invite you to join the next Community Days as they continue their efforts to clean up and improve this important community space in Southall:

• Saturday 21 March 2026, 10:00am – 1:00pm

About the Project

The Western Road Urban Garden will significantly enhance green space in Southall by:

• Creating a publicly accessible green oasis where none previously existed
• Clearing weeds and overgrowth to enable food growing and horticulture
• Planting fruit trees and bushes to form a community orchard, providing fresh fruit for residents, with surplus donated to local food banks
• Delivering educational sessions on gardening, wellbeing, and the benefits of green spaces

Other Activities Available

Community Days will also include:

• Guided gardening and planting activities (tools provided)
• Volunteering opportunities for all ages and abilities
• Informal workshops and demonstrations
• Family-friendly activities
• Opportunities for residents to share ideas and help shape the future of the garden

Since the project began, the garden has seen remarkable progress, transforming from a neglected allotment into a thriving green space.

Launched in 2022, this initiative has been made possible through the collaboration of Southall Community Alliance with Southall Transition, Ealing Parks Foundation, Ealing Council, LAGER Can, Heathrow Community Trust, and Feeding Ealing — all working together for the benefit of the community.

If you or anyone you know would like to join, just turn up on the day — you will be warmly welcomed. All are welcome, especially children and families, and your presence is appreciated regardless of the duration of your visit.
