Remembrance Sunday in Southall 2023

A gathering of people will take place at the Southall War Memorial on The Green in Southall to honor and pay their respects to the men and women who have fallen in conflicts both past and present.
On Sunday, 12 November 2023, Remembrance Sunday events will be held throughout the borough. You have the option to participate in a local service, with three key events scheduled for the morning.
At 10:45 am, residents from various walks of life will gather at the Southall War Memorial at Southall Manor Park. This assembly will encompass local councillors, business leaders, representatives from the police, fire, and ambulance services, school communities, and people of all age groups.
The service at 11 am is usually presided over by Revd Canon Mark Poulson, who serves as the associate vicar at St. John's Church in Southall.
A two-minute silence will be observed at 11 am to commemorate and remember those who lost their lives.
A VIP will lay the initial wreath at the Southall War Memorial, and then everyone in attendance will have the opportunity to place their wreaths as a mark of Remembrance Sunday.
Following the event, all attendees are invited to join a brief civic service at the nearby St John's Church on Church Avenue, followed by refreshments for all.
The former Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Mohinder Midha, is scheduled to be present, along with Councillor Jasbir Anand, who serves as the council cabinet member responsible for addressing inequality.
The two other key events scheduled for the morning are taking place in Ealing Green and Greenford..
The leader of the council, Councillor Peter Mason, and the Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Hitesh Tailor, are scheduled to participate in a Remembrance Sunday service at Ealing War Memorial, located on Ealing Green, in the vicinity of Pitzhanger Manor. The service will include a 2-minute silence observed at 11 a.m. The King's representative, Deputy Lieutenant Richard Kornicki, and council chief executive Tony Clements will also be in attendance at the event.
In Greenford, the local branch of the Royal British Legion will march from its headquarters on Oldfield Lane South to the Greenford War Memorial, where a public service is scheduled to commence at 11 a.m. Among the attendees will be the former Mayor, Councillor Munir Ahmed, as well as Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, the cabinet member responsible for ensuring safe and genuinely affordable housing.
