Last day to register for Elections

Tue 06 May 2014
Today, Tuesday 6 May 2014, is the last to register to be able to vote in the local and European elections.

Anyone who is not already on the electoral register should visit www.ealing.gov.uk/vote2014 for more information or email elections@ealing.gov.uk.

253 candidates are standing in the May local elections in the London Borough of Ealing.

There are 23 wards in Ealing and three councillors will be elected to serve on each ward. The 69 elected councillors will serve for four years and make decisions about the borough and the services delivered by the council.

The list of candidates standing, by ward, in the local elections on Thursday, 22 May 2014, is available at www.ealing.gov.uk/vote2014 and outside the Electoral Services office, Ealing Town Hall, Ealing, W5 2BY.

The ward at the heart of Southall is the Southall Broadway ward. Last time, it elected 3 Labour Party councillors. This time none of those have been selected by the party.

One of the de-selected councillors, Councillor Zahida Abbas Noori, is standing as an independent candidate. In 2010, she was re-elected with 3947 votes, the most votes in the London Borough.
