Share your ideas for Southall

Tue 27 Mar 2012
Residents can have their say about the future of Southall at two roadshows on Friday and Saturday at Southall Town Hall.

Local people can come along and share their ideas with the council, police, NHS and Southall Community Alliance on how to make Southall a safer, healthier, more prosperous and better connected part of the borough.

The events will be held at Southall Town Hall , High Street on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, 30 March the event times are from 11 am – 7.30 pm. On Saturday 31 March the event times are from 10 am – 7 pm.

There will also be ‘street teams’ at various locations along South Road , The Green and King Street for passers by to speak to.

Anyone taking part will be asked to complete a postcard with their ideas, and rate a number of identified priorities in order of importance, or add on their own concerns for the local area.

These ideas will then be developed by the ‘Futures Team’, made up of local community representatives to help create a Southall Charter later this summer.

The themes being discussed at the roadshows will include:
- housing
- health
- safety
- jobs
- education and learning
- streets and public spaces
- markets
- enterprise
- investment
- and festivals and events.

Martin Smith, Ealing Council’s Chief Executive, said: "We are giving everyone in the area a chance to help shape the way Southall develops in the future. We are taking the time to ask local people what they want to see improved and make sure that the projects being planned reflect that need."

"The Southall Charter will give us a clear plan for the next few years and will build directly on the outcomes of these consultations and roadshow events so having your say is really important. Don’t wait for someone else to tell us – pop along and get involved."

If you have a local news story, share it with the rest of Southall, by using the contact form.
