Agencies join forces for Southall event
Thu 23 Feb 2012The event will take place at the Dominion Centre, The Green, Southall from 10am until 4pm.
The event is aimed at providing local people with information about a range of services, as well as giving residents the opportunity to get involved in local community projects.
The council’s community safety officers will be on hand to give out crime prevention advice and practical security equipment.
They will be joined by colleagues from Southall Community Alliance, Ealing Drugs Advice Intervention Support (DAIS), the local drug and alcohol support agency, and representatives from the local police safer neighbourhoods team.
Councillor Ranjit Dheer, cabinet member for community services and safety, said: "This event is part of a larger operation to tackle a number of issues, including crime, anti-social behaviour and fly-tipping."
"The drop-in is an opportunity for local people to come and speak to trained officers and people who care about the local community to either get help, or get involved in making the town a better place to be."
Police Chief Inspector, Colin Wingrove, Safer Southall Partnership said: "Events such as this are an integral part of our work towards reducing crime in Southall. We, along with our partners, are committed to offering young people the opportunity to get involved and be part of making their area safer for future generations."
"The local safer neighbourhoods team will be in attendance to offer crime prevention advice and will take the feedback from this event to support our future policing plans for the area."
