Ealing Council’s court success
Fri 29 Aug 2008The offenders were ordered to pay thousands of pounds in fines and court costs at Acton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 21 August 2008.
The cases were brought after investigations by the Council’s Envirocrime Prevention Team.
Hassan Khalil, of King’s Fish Bar, Ealing, was fined £400 and ordered to pay £350 costs for failing to have waste transfer notes.
Marina Bogovac, of Lovelace House, Ealing, was fined £200 and ordered to pay £576.52 costs for littering outside Lovelace House in January.
Natalia Iverson, of Hartington Road, London W13, was fined £200 and ordered to pay £1,121 for displaying advertisements without consent. Iverson is the director of IV-Removals, which is registered at Craig House, West Ealing. Posters advertising the business were illegally put up around Ealing town centre from September to November 2007.
Langley Skip Hire, based in Slough, was fined £500 and ordered to pay £354 costs for leaving a skip on the highway in Bramley Road, Ealing, without a licence from the Council in January.
New Bharat Skips, based in Hounslow, was fined £350 and ordered to pay £373.73 costs for leaving a skip on the highway in Balfour Road, Ealing, without a licence from the Council in February.
Huang Chun Cun, of Harrow, was fined £250 and ordered to pay £437 for trading without a licence outside the Arcadia Centre, Ealing Broadway, in February.
Councillor Sue Emment, Cabinet Member for Environment and Street Services, said, "We will not think twice about taking action against those who blight our borough and I’m pleased to see the courts supporting our work."
