Residents are planning a demonstration in Southall on Saturday 15 August 2026 under the banner "Stop Treating Southall as a Dumping Ground", with organisers calling for greater attention to concerns affecting the local area.

The event is expected to bring together residents who say they want to raise awareness about issues including development pressures, local infrastructure and decisions affecting the community.

The protest is also focused on concerns raised by campaigners about the relocation of RISE services from West Ealing to Southall Town Hall.

Campaigners say they are seeking answers from Ealing Council and Councillor Jasbir Anand about the decision-making process behind the relocation. They claim there was no community consultation or Equalities Impact Assessment before the move and are calling for greater transparency.

Residents involved in the campaign have raised concerns about the potential impact of the relocation, including issues around antisocial behaviour, visible drug-related activity and the need for appropriate support, policing and community protection measures.

Campaigners are also asking why Southall was selected as the location for the service and whether alternative approaches, such as more decentralised shared care models for drug and alcohol rehabilitation, have been considered.

The planned protest follows wider community discussions about the challenges facing Southall, including housing pressures, public services, crime, the environment and the impact of major developments.

Residents have previously raised concerns about issues such as fly-tipping and the appearance of some parts of the area. Ealing Council has said it is taking action against fly-tipping, including using measures such as CCTV enforcement and prosecutions where appropriate.
