New cabinet announced for Ealing Council after local elections

A new cabinet has been confirmed for Ealing Council following the recent local elections, which saw Labour retain overall control of the council.

Council leader Peter Mason announced the new cabinet line-up after Labour secured 46 of the borough’s 70 council seats, giving the party a majority for the next four years until 2030.

Louise Brett remains deputy leader and cabinet member for safe and genuinely affordable homes.

The new cabinet includes councillors responsible for areas including crime and antisocial behaviour, climate action, housing, health, economic growth and community development.

The cabinet members are:

  • Jasbir Anand – tackling crime and antisocial behaviour
  • Steve Donnelly – inclusive economy and efficiency
  • Paul Driscoll – healthy equal lives
  • Monica Hamidi – good growth
  • Blerina Hashani – fairer start
  • Dominic Moffitt – climate action
  • Kamaljit Kaur Nagpal – decent living incomes
  • Lauren Wall – thriving communities

The reshuffle included several changes to the previous cabinet. Monica Hamidi replaced Shital Manro as cabinet member for good growth, while Dominic Moffitt took over responsibility for climate action. Lauren Wall was appointed cabinet member for thriving communities, with Blerina Hashani moving to the fairer start portfolio.

Ealing Council new cabinet

Several former cabinet members were also not included in the new line-up following the elections, including Josh Blacker, Polly Knewstub and Shital Manro.

Councillor Mason said the administration’s priorities over the next four years would include delivering more affordable homes, improving roads and public spaces, creating jobs and investing in schools and social care.

The first cabinet meeting of the new administration is due to take place on 10 June.
