Roots of Qawwali comes to the UK in 2026 as part of a multi-city concert tour led by vocalist Chand Ali Khan and his ensemble.
The programme explores the development of Qawwali and Sufi devotional music, tracing its journey from early origins through the influential Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan era to contemporary interpretations. The performance presents a curated selection of traditional and modern Qawwali and Sufiana kalaam, focusing on poetry, rhythm, and spiritual expression.
Chand Ali Khan is known in the UK Qawwali scene for his classical training and vocal style, and is a disciple of Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. His performances emphasise emotional depth, lyrical meaning, and the devotional roots of the genre.
The concert offers audiences an opportunity to experience Qawwali as both a musical and cultural tradition, highlighting its themes of love, devotion, and unity through Sufi poetry and melody.
The Roots of Qawwali UK Tour 2026 will visit five cities, bringing live performances to venues across the country.
