Burgers cost XFC £4,000

Thu 25 Aug 2011
Fast food restaurant XFC has been fined more than £4,000 for selling food after hours following an Ealing Council prosecution.

The owner of XFC on Southall Broadway, Mr Shanawar Majid Chaudhry, was found guilty of two offences at Ealing Magistrates’ Court. He was ordered to pay £1,000 for each offence, £2000 towards the council’s costs and £15 victim charge.

Council officers visited the fast food restaurant in October and November last year and were sold hot food after hours on both occasions.

The outlet is not licensed to sell late night refreshments and food between 11pm and 5am under the current licence.

Councillor Ranjit Dheer, cabinet member for Community Services and Safety, said: "We set out clear rules for food traders in their licence and expect them to operate within them."

"Our officers will continue to work closely with businesses to advise them, but will take action against anyone caught breaking their licence conditions, or worse still, not having a licence at all."
