Bollywood shoots films in Southall Job Centre?
In 2003 a DWP press officer in Whitehall said "A little while back, we were contacted by a Bollywood film company who wanted to shoot a few scenes at the local Jobcentre Plus in Southall."

"They said they wanted to encourage their British-based fans to use the service. Permission was granted, so watch out for Jobcentre Plus coming to a big screen near you."

Fire at Southall Jobcentre
In August 2007, Southall job centre was closed down after the building caught fire at night. It took 30 firefighters and six fire crews 2 hours to get the flames under control on Tuesday 7th August. Severe damage to the roof and first floor meant that the Jobcentre remained closed for at least three months.

Southall Jobcentre closure
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) announced proposals to close or relocate some of its Jobcentre Plus offices in January 2017. It was proposed to close Jobcentre Plus Southall and make residents travel to the West Ealing and Acton Jobcentres.

In March 2017 protesters gathered outside of the Jobcentre Plus Southall to oppose the potential closure. "Southall is one of the most deprived towns in the country and the ward in which the Jobcentre is located is one of the 10 most deprived wards in the country."

The Department for Work and Pensions announced in July 2017 that the Jobcentre would be closing after a "sham public consultation".
