Southall Nagar Kirtan 2015

Sun 15 Nov 2015
Thousands of Sikhs celebrated the Parkash Ustav (Birthday) of Guru Nanak by holding the annual Southall Nagar Kirtan (procession) today.

The procession starts from the Havelock Road Gurdwara and finishes at the Park Avenue Gurdwara.

After the 11:30am start the procession moves very slowly through King Street, The Green, South Road, the Broadway, Green Drive and finished at the Park Avenue Gurdwara.

The weather does not deter people from turning out in thousands each year.

It becomes virtually impossible to move in the opposite direction on the road or the footpath.

Even with the huge number of people attending the event atmosphere is family friendly.

As usual, there were lots of free food stalls all along the procession route.

The Police advise against travelling through Southall on such occasions.
